About us

Biohazard cleanup and disinfection from Bridgeport and New Milford

Biohazard cleanup is the core of our work, and disinfection is in our name. We handle crime scene, unattended death, trauma, blood and sewage cleanups, and clean and disinfect homes and workplaces across Fairfield, New Haven and Litchfield counties, from a service office on Main Street in Bridgeport and a head office in New Milford.

What we do

The core of IMD Disinfecting Services's work is biohazard cleanup: a home released by police after a crime, a room where someone died alone, blood after an injury, sewage up a basement drain, needles found in a vacated unit. Our crews remove what cannot be saved, package it as biomedical waste for a permitted transporter, disinfect with products OSHA accepts for blood and treat odor at the source, quietly and at the family's pace.

We also clean and disinfect homes, apartment buildings, offices, schools, daycares, medical practices, gyms, restaurants, vehicles and boats. Some jobs are recurring, like a weekly house cleaning or a nightly office clean. Others happen once: a deep clean before a move, a disinfection after a stomach bug went through a household, or a basement after a flood.

Disinfection is where our name comes from, and it runs through every job, biohazard or not. We match the product to the germ and the surface, clean before we disinfect, and leave surfaces wet for the contact time on the label. Those habits came from disinfection, and they make ordinary cleaning better too, because the same care about products and surfaces applies to a kitchen counter or a hardwood floor.

Every service has its own page explaining what the job involves, what changes the price and how long it takes, and our cleaning tips cover the questions we hear most on the phone.

How we work

Four habits behind every job

One line, answered at any hour

Nights, weekends and holidays. If the job can safely wait until morning, we say so instead of selling you an urgent visit.

Products chosen by label

The label decides which germs a product kills, which surfaces it suits and how long it stays wet. Makers like Clorox Healthcare and Lysol Professional label for this work; Victory Innovations and Protexus build the sprayers.

Schedules that fit the building

Homes get daytime visits. Offices, schools and gyms usually get evening or overnight work, so the space is ready when people walk in.

Two offices, one phone number

The Main Street office in Bridgeport covers the shoreline and Fairfield County. The New Milford head office covers Danbury, the lake towns and Litchfield County.

Two offices, one phone line

Our service office at 4043 Main St sits on the Main Street commercial strip in Bridgeport's North End. It handles Bridgeport, the shoreline towns from Fairfield to Milford, Stamford and Norwalk to the west, and New Haven and Waterbury to the east.

Our head office at 19 Meetinghouse Terrace in New Milford handles Danbury, the Candlewood Lake towns and Litchfield County. Both offices work from the same number, answered around the clock, and the crew that comes to you is whichever office is closer to the job. See every area we clean.

On the rare day every crew is booked

Our crews take the jobs booked on our line themselves. Occasionally every crew is already committed, or an after-hours call needs someone sooner than we can get there. In that case your call may be passed to another local cleaning provider so you are not left waiting. That provider is independent of us and sets its own pricing and availability, so confirm the details with them before any work starts. It is the exception, not how we normally work.

Who writes our cleaning tips

Viola Nash, Cleaning and Disinfection Guides Editor

Viola Nash edits the Cleaning Tips guides on this site. She writes them around the questions we hear most on the phone, checks each one against current CDC, EPA and Connecticut public health guidance and against the way our crews do the work, and updates them when that guidance changes. Every number in a guide, from a bleach strength to a price range, links to its source so you can check it yourself.
